I am a lover of products that can save me time especially ones with multiple uses.
It’s not been easy to round up my most loved products but I’m giving it a go. Here I am going to share with you my top five products You need for your home.
1. LAKELAND DRY SOON 3 TIER HEATED AIRER
Starting off with a bang, the Lakeland heated airer. This product is an absolute lifesaver for me. I am not a lover of tumble dryers and even though we have one I try to keep it’s uses to a minimum. For years I have used your standard clothes horse but I find come spring when its warm enough to turn the heating off but the weather is on the cooler side my washing would take forever to dry.
A couple of years ago I invested in the Dry soon 3 tier heated airer from Lakeland and I haven’t stoped raving about it since. Simply plug it in and its heats up in seconds. Safe enough to have on around your children and costs less than 6p an hour to run.
What I love the most is I can put a wash load on early in the morning and its dry by the end of the day, so no washing hanging around for days on end. A great item to bridge the gap when its not warm enough to hang your washing on the line.
2. PET GROOMING BRUSH
If you are an interior addict chances are you have at least one sheepskin rug in your home. They are so pretty and fluffy when you first buy them, then after a month they become flat and a bit raggedy.
I found a very simple solution to bringing life back into your sheepskin rug. Buying a pet grooming brush and gently brushing your sheepskin through, and there you have one super fluffy sheepskin rug.
Simple and effective.
3. ELBOW GREASE ALL PURPOSE SPRAY
Elbow Grease all purpose spray is a must have. It’s uses are endless. I use this after cooking on the hob and worktops, even on the walls to get rid of those pesky kids fingerprints! What I really love to use this product for is on fabric, it literally blows my mind what a miracle product it is.
As you can see above my sofa gets rather messy, two kids and a dog my furniture doesn’t stand a chance. I found that if a stain appears on the furniture or carpets I use this, spray on the stain, then leave for 5 minutes and then clean with warm soapy water. The sofa is back ready to be abused when everyone arrives home later in the day.
another handy tip.
If you’re like me and cant go a month without painting something. It’s likely you may have a few items of clothing with paint on them. I’m the worlds worse when it comes to changing into my painting clothes and have ruined many a nice top with paint. No more, you can also spray Elbow Grease onto your clothes to remove stains and paint.
Works a treat.
4. COMMAND STRIPS
If there is a picture or print on the wall in my home I guarantee that they have been hung with command picture hanging strips. These come in lots of different shapes and weight depending on the size/weight of the frame you are hanging. Command products are great if you are a renter or don’t want to drill into your wall. I also love their hooks which i use to hang decorations especially at Christmas. Gone are the days i try to use tape to hang a paper PomPom to find it on the floor the following morning.
5. SODA CRYSTALS
Soda Crystals, since moving out of my childhood home aged 19 I’ve always had a bag of these in my under sink cupboard. Apparently even my Nan would use these to keep her drains clear and odourless. They have so many uses but my favourite is this. When I have a pan with dried, burnt on food instead of standing there scrubbing for hours I put a tablespoon of soda crystals into the pan with warm water and leave over night for it to do its magic. Come morning I rinse it all away, no need for scrubbing or harsh chemical products.
Another great use is to put them in the drum of your washing machine when washing your towels and they help to keep those towels nice and fluffy.
A lot of the products our parents and grandparents used are the best and worth a try.
I would love to know what your top five items are in your home and why.
