POUNDLAND

THE STORE THAT IS YOUR GO TO, TO BUY CHEAP SNACKS AND CLEANING PRODUCTS.

BUT IS IT?

POUNDLAND HAS STARTED TO DIP ITS TOE INTO THE WORLD OF HOMEWARE AND  HAVE  PRODUCED SOME REAL GEMS.

WHO REMEMBERS THE ZEBRA AND  CACTI VASES? I REST MY CASE.

On a recent Poundland dash of my own to buy barney bears and toothpaste I was stopped in my tracks. For months I’ve lusted after the textured glass vase from H&M Home. Don’t get me wrong with the vase range costing under £20 it’s hardly breaking the bank.

Poundland have now released a range of candles in a very similar design to the H&M Home vase and you guessed it they only cost a pound.

Yes my heart did skip a little beat with excitement thinking of all it’s uses. My only issue was, the candle wax. I’m impatient for one and two well there is no two I’m just really impatient and I want to use the jar ASAP.

I’m a custom to burning the candle at both ends but I didn’t have the first clue how to remove a whole candle wax from the jar.

After chatting with my Instagram followers about the subject and a bit of googling I came up with my plan. Now it’s time to share this information with you.

HOW TO REMOVE CANDLE WAX – STEP ONE

First you need to boil your kettle, place your candle jar in a small container. I used a small saucepan.

Next put a small amount of cold water in the base of the saucepan then once the kettle has boiled pour the water into the saucepan so it completely surrounds the outer of the candle jar. Then pour the boiling water into the top of the candle.

As you can see the wax is already starting to melt and sitting on the top of the water.

Leave this to sit for about 20  minutes, only until the water has turned warm and the wax has softened up. If you leave it any longer the water will turn cold and the wax will harden.

STEP TWO

Your wax should have  now softened up and is ready to be removed. With a spoon or a knife. Be careful not to damage the jar,  gently entice the wax away from the edge of the jar.

STEP THREE

The end is near. Now you have removed majority of your wax from the jar you will probably have a small amount of wax left.

Place your candle jar back in your empty saucepan, then put boiling water just inside the jar. Leave for around 10  minutes.

CLEAN UP AND STYLE

Once your wax has melted its time to give your jar a good wash with soupy water, dry and now your jar is ready to be used.

These Poundland jars have so many  uses. Perfect to hold your make up brushes or a pen pot for your desk. Maybe you could even pot a  succulent in them.

Now you have a fabulous styling addition for your home for the grand total of a quid.
