REASONS TO PAINT YOUR CEILING WITH COLOUR

REASONS TO PAINT YOUR CEILING WITH COLOUR

PAINTED CEILINGS WAS ONE OF THE INTERIOR TRENDS THAT HAS BEEN AROUND FOREVER BUT REALLY TOOK OFF IN 2019.

I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU THR REASONS TO PAINT YOUR CEILING WITH COLOUR.

The past week I’ve embarked on another room revamp and I knew that I wanted to paint my ceiling with colour. Last year I updated our living room with a pink ceiling.

Painting my ceiling completely transformed my living room. It was a way for me to add drama and colour to the room without being overpowering.

THE FORGOTTON FIFTH WALL

Painting your ceiling white has almost been what we have done by default. White has been considered the safest option.

When choosing colour for your ceiling you need to think of a few factors. The height of the room, amount of light that is let into the space and what colour to   Paint your wallls.

If you have a small room with low ceilings you may want to go with a lighter colour as this can make the room feel open and spacious. Keeping the walls light will also help to open up the space.

Dark ceilings work well in larger rooms with a high ceiling. This is a very dramatic look, Perfect if you lean towards the minimalistic vibe. Darker ceilings can also add warmth into a room that may have felt quite cold before.

When choosing your wall colour you are looking for something that would compliment the ceiling and not compete for attention against it.

PAINTED CEILING INSPIRATION

There is lots of inspiration out there on Instagram and Pinterest. Here is a selection of Instagram accounts who have completely nailed it with the fifth wall.

Sofie @threeboysandapinkbath recently painted her bedroom with a combination of pinks, mustard and green. The tone of pink she has chosen for this room has added warmth and the light pink on the walls is really letting the ceiling colour do the talking.

Sofie used Graham & Brown Ceiling-Sienna Walls- Lucy to create this look.

Jen @thehousethatjenbuilt_ has offered a different take on the painted ceiling. By keeping the walls neutral and painting the area just above the picture rail to the ceiling with colour Jen hasn’t fully committed to a full painted ceiling but the look is still as effective.

Jen used Little Greene Mid Lead in intelligent Matt to create this look.

Lily @layered.home has taken the painted ceiling look and raised the bar even higher by wallpapering her ceiling. This is a real statement look but still done with complete style. Lily has picked out colours from the wallpaper to bring the  rest of the room together.

Lily created this look with Osbourne & Little wallpaper.

Amy @no_ordinary_space has painted her entrance hall ceiling with a muted pink. By painting her walls neutral she was able to paint her woodwork in black, this is such a stunning yet timeless colour combination. The pink and white has taken away any harshness the black may of had. Amy’s hallway also has some beautiful decorative features, painting her ceiling with colour has really enhanced these features.

Amy used Paint and Paper Library in Plaster V on her ceiling.

What do you think? Has this opened your mind about painted ceilings?
